EPPING ELEMENTARY SCHOOL DEAN OF STUDENTS

I am thrilled to be back again for another year.  In this school year we will continue to work hard on our social skills program.  The purpose of our social skills curriculum is to:

  • Spell out the expected behaviors needed to promote safety and learning in all school situations
  • Make those guidelines and expectations clear to students, staff and parents
  • Teach those expected behaviors in all school settings
  • Encourage expected behaviors whenever and wherever possible
  • Discourage unwanted behaviors through logical consequences

Epping Elementary School makes a major effort to teach expected behaviors and manners early and often during the first quarter of the school year.  This means a classroom may start the day with a lesson on expected manners such as classroom manners, hallway manners and cafeteria manners.  All teachers and staff demonstrate and reinforce what these manners "look like" and "sound like" in a variety of settings.  A copy of each set of manners we teach can be found in the student handbook.

We also have a "Caught Being Kind" program which recognizes how individual students' actions that show positive, productive behaviors have a direct effect on the overall climate and culture of their classrooms and school.  More information about this program can be found in the student handbook.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at 679-8018.

Sincerely,

Erin Milbury
