EPPING ELEMENTARY SCHOOL NURSE

Welcome to the Health Office!

Beth Peterson, RN is the school nurse. Annemarie Peck and Luetta Petrie share the health office assistant position, both working part-time.

Our goal in the Health Office is to keep our students as healthy as possible.  "Healthy children learn better" is our motto.  This is done in a variety of ways starting with the immunizations and physicals that are required by the state.  This year some immunization requirements have changed.  We are working to have everyone compliant.  Often this means contacting a parent for the most recent documentation and updating the school records.

We have been working to reduce illnesses by teaching staff and students how to reduce the spread of germs.

  • Sneezing and coughing in a "Germ Jail" - the inside of your elbow
  • Washing hands often and/or using hand sanitizer
  • Staying home when ill!  Everyone needs to be fever free for 24 hours (without using fever reducing medication) before returning to school
  • Staying home 24 hours after antibiotic therapy has been started
  • Letting the school know if an absence is due to influenza like illness

By working together we can limit the number of days missed due to illness.

Please contact the Health Office at 679-8018, ext. 3, if you have any questions or concerns.

IMMUNIZAIONS & PHYSICALS FOR SCHOOL - Epping School District requires all students to meet the physical examination and immunization requirements for school entrance.  Please check with your medical provider to see if your child is current with iimmunizations.  Please click here to obtain additional information from the state regarding immunization requirements.

INFLUENZA - The NH Department of Health and Human Services, NH Department of Education, US Center for Disease Control, US Department of Education, and US Homeland Security work closely to assist schools in preparing for health and emergency situations.  These agencies provide the district with health fact sheets and website information.  Please take a look at the website "What To Do If You Get Sick: 2009 H1N1 and Seasonal Flu."

EEE - In September the District sprayed for mosquitoes at the EES, EMS, EHS, and SAU fields.  As of this notice pools all around Epping have tested positive for EEE (Eastern Equine Encephalitis).  The District will continue to monitor this situation until the first good frost.
Mosquitoes are most active dusk to dark.  If you must be outside during these hours, it is recommended that you wear long plants and long sleeves, and use an insect repellant with DEET.
