Mr. DeGruttola is a state certified school counselor who has been with the Epping School District since 2008. Guidance services address whatever interferes with a student's ability to learn, to succeed, and to participate in the learning process. Adventure Based Counseling
Adventure Based Counseling focuses on the development of positive communication, leadership, conflict resolution,and self confidence. These areas are addressed through group challenges and discussions.
Groups are designed to be a safe place for students. Students are asked to follow the philosophy of "challenge by choice", allowing participants to choose just how and to what extent they want to challenge themselves. Participants are also expected to agree to the behavioral guidelines listed below (Full Value Contract). These guidelines are used to insure that everyone understands what is expected and what is accepted during group.
Full Value Contract
Be Present – Be present mentally, physically, and emotionally throughout the group.
Pay Attention – Listen to what others say and focus on understanding the ideas.
Speak Your Truth – Share your thoughts and opinions openly and honestly.
Be Open to Outcomes – Try not to prejudge what is happening.
Create a safe Environment – Be aware and sensitive to the impact of what you say and what you do.
