EPPING EDUCATIONAL NEWS

EPPING SCHOOL DISTRICT MODEL & ACTION PLAN - The Epping School District Model "21st Century Student Outcomes for College, Career and Life Ready Students" was successfully implemented last school year.  It has been revised to add "life ready" to better reflect our mission and updated to reflect the work accomplished last school year.  We, the District Leadership Team, use this plan to guide our work throughout the school district and continue to attend workshops and conferences and read the latest materials to improve our practice.  You will find that this plan reflects todays best educational research and practice.

During the development of the "21st Century Student Outcomes for College, Career and Life Ready Students" the National Governors with the Chief School Officers developed and approved Common Core State Standards in English Language Arts and Mathematics.  The State Board of Education has adopted these standards for NH public schools.  The New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) revised high school accreditation to embed 21st century learning throughout the standards.  The New Hampshire Department of Education launched a high school redesign initiative based on the revised public school standards emphasizing extended/alternative learning opportunities and high school competencies for high school credit.  Daily life has continued to change with blogs, Google® searches, emails, text messages, time spent online, music downloads, and devices such as the iTouch® and iPad®.  All of these factors were taken into consideration and embedded throughout the model and plan.

In the near future Epping High School will be renewing its accreditation through NEASC.  In preparation for the accreditation process the 2011-2012 action plan has been developed to align with these revised high school accreditation standards.  It is important to note that although the accreditation standards are for the high school, the good practice contained within the standards can be applied and are applied to all schools.  Please click here to view the "Epping School District Alignment to NEASC Accreditation Standards."
