SCHOOL DISTRICT GOALS 2012-2013
To implement the Epping School District Model 21st Century Student Outcomes for College, Career and Life Ready Students and Action Plan.
STUDENT LEARNING – What is it we expect students to learn (know, understand, and be able to do)? How will we know when students have learned it? How do we teach so all students learn? How will we respond when students have already learned it? How will we respond when students don't learn?
Epping School District
- Evaluate Common Core State Standards and develop strategies to address key shifts.
- Develop and approve district curriculum framework for English/language arts, social studies, and science.
- Recommend curriculum review cycle.
- Review content specifications proposed for SMARTER Balanced Assessment in English/language arts and mathematics.
- Align classroom libraries to Common Core State Standards and District Curriculum Frameworks.
Epping Elementary School
- Develop course and district competency system to align with other schools.
- Align formative, summative, diagnostic and performance task assessments in reading, writing, and mathematics with Common Core State Standards.
- Develop grading guidelines and competency-based reporting to align with other schools.
- Continue to implement reading, writing, and mathematics programs.
- Develop, refine, and/or implement STEM and Social Studies.
- Develop school plan to align with district accountability model and improve student learning for all student subgroups.
Epping Middle School
- Develop and implement course and district competency system to align with other schools.
- Develop grading guidelines and competency-based reporting to align with other schools.
- Continue to align reading, writing, and mathematics programs with elementary school.
- Develop and implement school plan to align with district accountability model and improve student learning for all student subgroups.
- Continue to assess and direct efforts in preparation for NEASC accreditation.
Epping High School
- Develop/refine formative, summative, diagnostic and performance task assessments with course/district competencies and Common Core State Standards.
- Develop unit plans in alignment with course syllabi.
- Continue to assess and direct efforts in preparation for NEASC accreditation.
PROFESSIONAL LEARNING – How will we grow professionally to support student learning?
- Provide professional development to support reading, writing, and mathematics programs; curriculum, assessment, and instruction goals; and technology.
- Approve and begin implementation of 21st Century Library/Media Plan.
- Redesign and implement teacher mentoring plan to align with teacher and school needs, and within district resources.
ACCOUNTABILITY – How will we hold ourselves accountable for student learning? How do we communicate the plan, rationale, and progress?
- Develop district accountability model for student learning using student personal learning plans and student growth targets to align with Common Core State Standards.
- Develop district services plan in special education, 504, and ESOL in support of school plans, accountability model, and NEASC accreditation.
- Introduce and implement Olweus bullying prevention program.
- Revise and implement job descriptions and evaluation systems for administrators, non-classroom teachers, and support staff to align with district frameworks and needs.
- Develop long range plan to address elementary school facility needs.
- Communicate district action plan and progress to parents, community, and school staff.
