SCHOOL DISTRICT GOALS 2011-2012
To implement the Epping School District Model 21st Century Student Outcomes for College, Career and Life Ready Students and Action Plan.
STUDENT LEARNING – What is it we expect students to learn (know, understand, and be able to do)? How will we know when students have learned it? How do we teach so all students learn? How will we respond when students have already learned it? How will we respond when students don't learn?
- Develop and approve district curriculum framework for language arts and social studies (PK-12).
- Develop and approve grade level/content curriculum guides in all content areas (PK-12).
- Develop district assessment framework (PK-12).
- Develop common assessments for I can statements in mathematics and language arts (PK-5).
- Develop authentic performance tasks assessing I can, course competency, and district competency statements (6-12).
- Link I can, course competency, and district competency statements to student reporting (PK-12).
- Develop student personal learning plan framework to provide progression of student choice and voice and assess district competencies (6-12).
- Develop district assessment policy and guidelines to include non-negotiable assessment goals (PK-12).
- Develop district instructional framework including literacy and mathematics plans (PK-12).
- Update annual trajectories in reading, writing, and mathematics (PK-5).
- Update annual unit calendars in all content areas (6-8).
- Develop annual unit calendars in all content areas (9-12).
- Develop district instruction policy and guidelines to include non-negotiable instruction goals (PK-12).
- Refine response to intervention system and brainstorm ideas to contribute to instructional framework development and improve student learning.
PROFESSIONAL LEARNING – How will we grow professionally to support student learning?
- Provide professional development for new math program in elementary and middle schools.
- Provide professional development to align with district action plan in areas of curriculum, assessment, instruction, and evaluation.
- Implement teacher mentoring to align with district action plan.
- Align professional learning plans to district action and differentiate for years of service.
ACCOUNTABILITY – How will we hold ourselves accountable for student learning? How do we communicate the plan, rationale, and progress?
- Implement evaluation systems to align with Curriculum, Assessment, and Instruction Frameworks and Professional Development Master Plan.
- Develop district accountability policy and guidelines to include non-negotiable accountability goals.
- Develop plans for school resources as required by NEASC accreditation (counseling services; library/media services; health services; and special education, 504, and ESOL services).
- Develop maintenance, inventory, and long range plans as required for NEASC accreditation (facilities and technology).
- Communicate district action plan and progress.
