BULLYING PREVENTION
Olweus Program - The District Guidance Team has included bullying prevention in the District Guidance Plan. This past school year they visited schools that were in various stages of implementing the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program. They concluded that the program was a good fit for Epping schools. Thank you to the Epping/Newmarket Youth Coalition for making this program (materials and training) free of charge.
In August 2011 staff throughout the District volunteered to serve on the EES and EMS/EHS Committees. A two-day training was provided for committee members with the purpose of using a train-the-trainer model in which committee members would train other school staff later in the school year. The next implementation step will entail surveying the student population. Updates will be posted on this webpage.
Prior to the opening of school for the 2012-2013 school year, staff throughout the District will receive additional training. This Fall 2012 students will be introduced to the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program and the District will continue its implementation over the school year. For more information on this program, please click here. Please note that the Olweus Implementation Team is tailoring this program to meet the needs of Epping schools.
District Policy & Bullying Reporting Form - The Epping School District is committed to providing all students a safe and secure school environment in which all members of the school community are treated with respect. Conduct constituting bullying and/or cyberbullying will not be tolerated and is prohibited. Policy JICK Pupil Safety and Violence Prevention (Bullying) meets all requirements of the "bullying" legislation which became effective July 1, 2010.
