Superintendent's Message

Thank you for visiting the Epping School District website!  Epping is certainly the center of our Universe and this website, along with the Epping District Facebook page, can assist you in keeping up with the most pertinent district information.

We’ve got goals!

In addition to a district Mission and Vision, the Epping School District has yearly goals. For the19-20 school year, the goals are as follows:


Last year we discovered that the traditionally used communication systems were not as effective as we thought. In the past we have relied on Emails, school level Facebook, Open Houses in the Fall, Twitter and Instagram. This year we plan to evaluate the current systems of communication and develop new communication systems to ensure effective communication within the school district and Epping community.


The world has changed in the past twenty years. We see that children have access to all kinds of information and live in a fast-paced world. School employees all over the United States express concerns related to the high levels of anxiety in today’s children. As a result, our plan is  to develop a social/emotional, life management plan that prepares each student for life in the 21st Century.  This would include culture and climate, diversity training, bullying and suicide prevention training for students, teachers and parents. The implementation of this program would begin in 19-20 and continue into future years.


The goal of public education is to create a learning environment in which all students can reach their fullest academic potential and be prepared for adulthood. While there are many ways for students to demonstrate their academic achievements, the most collectively public way is 
through the State Assessment System (SAS). This year there will be a concerted effort to prepare our students for the SAS.  Here in Epping we have outstanding professional educators and we have clearly outlined Competencies and Performance Assessments. In addition, the schools are appropriately staffed. We believe that additional test preparation will yield higher scores for the Epping students.  


Since 2008, the Epping School District has been engaged in the development of Competency Based Education (CBE) for the children of Epping. Much of the CBE infrastructure is complete. This year we will continue to develop Rubrics to assess student learning and begin to address the question of how to best meet the learning needs of students when they do not demonstrate competency in Performance Indicators (K-8) and Competencies (9-12). Epping has been, and will continue to be,  a leader in the development of Competency Based Education. For the past three and a half years the Epping School District has created and refined systems to support all students. Currently we have a well-articulated Multi Tiered System of Support (MTSS) and we use data to refine targeted instruction for students not demonstrating mastery of Competencies and Performance Indicators.   All our students will enter the same world upon graduation. It is incumbent upon our school system to make sure that the children have the skills and knowledge to succeed in the 21st Century.
