INCLEMENT WEATHER PROTOCOLS AND REMOTE LEARNING SNOW DAYS
With the winter months now upon us, we must be prepared for inclement weather and the possibility of snow days. This communication aims to set our students and families up for success. We understand this is a lot of information, and you may have questions. Please reach out if you do - we are in this together!
HOW SCHOOL CLOSURES AND DELAYS ARE COMMUNICATED
Communication Channels: We use ParentSquare to notify our school community about school closures, delays, or early dismissals. Information is also promptly updated on the district website’s front page and broadcast on WMUR, Channel 9.
Delayed Openings and Early Dismissals: A 2-hour delay in school opening means bus transportation is also delayed by 2 hours. Early dismissal cancels all after-school activities.
Decision-Making Process: We may opt for a 2-hour delay initially if a storm is predicted but hasn't started by 6:00 am, reassessing the situation by 8:00 am for accuracy.
SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS FOR SST STUDENTS
For SST students, cancellations and schedule changes apply differently:
- If Epping schools are canceled due to poor travel conditions (ex: a snow day) there is no SST.
- If SST has a delayed opening, our AM SST session is canceled.
- If SST has an early release day, our PM SST session is canceled.
REMOTE LEARNING SNOW DAYS, DELAYED OPENING, AND EARLY RELEASE SCHEDULES
Some snow days may be remote learning days while others may not, depending upon weather conditions, power outages, or other factors that may impact our ability to provide an appropriate remote educational experience. The district will make every effort to inform students and families the day before a remote learning day is being called. A snow day will usually be called the morning of.
